NITON MAN JAILED FOR SEX ATTACK ON DOG WALKER IN WOODS
March 2023: A 30-year-old man named Douglas Knight has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a serious sexual assault that took place in Charles Wood, St Lawrence, Isle of Wight, in 2021.The incident involved Knight initiating a conversation with a woman before forcefully pushing her to the ground.
The woman responded by biting and elbowing him to escape, which caused Knight to run away from the scene.
In addition to the prison term, Knight from Niton received an extra four-year license extension for committing false imprisonment and attempting a sexual offence.
The police described the victim’s experience as an "incredibly frightening" ordeal after she was approached at approximately 09:30 GMT on December 22, 2021.
Knight had earlier admitted to the false imprisonment charge and was found guilty by a jury at Portsmouth Crown Court of a sexual offence with intent.
A restraining order was issued against him, and he was ordered to be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
Detective Constable Amy Hicks criticized Knight’s conduct, saying: "Individuals like Knight do not deserve a place in our community.
I want to thank the woman involved for her courage, which has helped bring this dangerous man to justice." Evidence, court documents, and images related to the case were presented during proceedings.
