'HORRIFYING' RAPIST DONNIE RENFREW JAILED FOR ATTACKS - BBC NEWS
A man who carried out a "shocking, horrifying and demeaning" catalogue of physical and sexual abuse against five women is jailed for 10 years.Donnie Renfrew was convicted of abusing the women between 1986 and 2013 in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and the Borders.The 48-year-old denied the offences but was convicted following a trial.Renfrew's victims told the court he became deranged while listening to heavy metal music and had raped one of the women in front of her children.'Abhorrent' behaviourJailing him at the High Court in Glasgow, judge Norman Ritchie QC told Renfrew: "You behaved in an abhorrent way towards five women.You abused these women physically and sexually.
What you did to these women was shocking, horrifying and demeaning to them."The judge told Renfrew he would be monitored for five years after his release and placed on the sex offenders register.Judge Ritchie told Renfrew that he was at high risk of reoffending and posed a particular danger to women.The court heard that Renfrew abused the women while he was in relationships with them.One of his victims said in evidence: "He would stick his tongue out, his eyes were bulging, and he would jump about and dance about to the music.
It was heavy, heavy metal he listened to."One woman, now aged 46, told the court how Renfrew had put his hand over her windpipe while he raped her.'Excruciating pain'He raped another victim in front of her two children after which the woman said she felt like "the worst mother on the planet".A third rape victim, now 41, said that Renfrew forced her to have sex while she was ill.A fourth woman, now 33, said the walls in Renfrew's flat were painted red and had upside down crosses hung on them.
She added: "He was controlling and jealous and the trigger was heavy metal music."Another victim, now 31, told how she was 17 when she started a relationship with Renfrew.
She said: "He was into heavy metal music and became a monster after listening to it."Renfrew denied the charges and claimed the women were liars who had concocted stories out of "jealousy, bitterness and financial gain".
