DOMINIC PEACHEY'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN WEST YORKSHIRE AND SOUTH WALES
In June 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving a teacher from a high school in West Yorkshire who engaged in highly inappropriate and illegal activities involving young girls. The teacher, identified as Dominic Peachey, secretly took photographs of female students in his classroom, some of which focused explicitly on their private areas while they were in school uniform.
These images were captured without the knowledge or consent of the students and were later used in a disturbing exchange with a known sex offender.
Peachey’s illicit activities came to light during an investigation conducted by South Wales police into the activities of John Ryan-Guess, a Welsh Government lawyer who was later convicted of severe child sexual abuse.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered a file on Ryan-Guess’s computer named ‘Dominic My Choices,’ which contained sub-files titled ‘Special Stuff’ and ‘Those From People I Know.’ Within these folders, investigators found images secretly taken by Peachey while he was teaching at his West Yorkshire school.
Some of these images depicted young girls, aged approximately 12 or 13, in various compromising positions, including one of a girl bending over and looking into her handbag.
Many of the photographs focused on their crotch areas, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.
Following the discovery, the police contacted the school, which confirmed that the images had been taken within one of their classrooms.
Authorities then arrested Peachey, and subsequent searches of his computers and mobile devices revealed a collection of illegal images.
Among these were fourteen images and videos classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of child exploitation.
Additional images classified as Category B and C were also found, along with pornographic material involving animals.
Initially, Peachey, also known as Dominic Peachey-Moore, refused to comment during his first police interview.
However, he later admitted that he had taken the photographs of the girls without their knowledge and had sent these images to another individual.
Peachey, residing on Carr Street in Selby, pleaded guilty to nine charges of making indecent images of children and three charges of possessing extreme pornographic images.
Judge Tom Bayliss, QC, addressed Peachey during the sentencing hearing, emphasizing that although the images of the schoolgirls themselves were not directly included in the charges, their existence was a significant aggravating factor.
The judge stated, “None of the children or their parents gave you permission to take them.
You used them as a bargaining tool.
You were actively involved in a networking process — in the sharing of indecent images of children.
You took photographs of children you had a duty of care for as a school master.
You shared those with a known sex offender.
In my judgment, there has to be a substantial prison sentence to bring it home to anyone else that such behaviour will be tolerated.” Earlier, in April 2019, Peachey appeared before Leeds Crown Court, where he admitted to multiple serious offences related to child sexual abuse images.
The court was told that he had committed nine offences of making indecent images of children, some depicting rape and torture, along with three charges of possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals.
These offences occurred between March and May 2017.
The judge warned Peachey that he should expect a lengthy prison sentence, especially as investigations were ongoing to determine whether he had distributed some of the most severe images to others.
Peachey, then 38 years old, was remanded on unconditional bail and scheduled to return to court on May 31 for sentencing.
Judge Bayliss emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, “These are very serious offences and expect to go to prison for a very long time.
The reason I am adjourning it is to find out exactly what you were distributing.
You must prepare yourself for a long prison sentence.” Throughout the investigation, authorities highlighted the disturbing nature of Peachey’s crimes, which involved exploiting his position as a teacher to capture and share illegal images.
His actions have caused significant concern among the community and underscore the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse.
