A STALKER HAS BEEN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS HIS EX PARTNER
Diogo Viera was also violent towards the victim between 2022 and 2025, causing distress and fear among her young children. At Truro Crown Court, it was revealed that Viera, aged 35, would frequently 'lose his temper' and repeatedly accuse her of infidelity during their 13-year relationship, which was described as 'volatile.' The court learned that on one occasion, Viera, a resident of Tywarnhayle Square in Perranporth, restrained her on a bed and pressed his knee against her throat, impacting her breathing.
On another instance, he forced both hands around her neck while pushing her against a wall.
Additionally, he was reported to have banged on the windows of her home late at night, which terrified her.
Viera also exhibited aggressive and abusive behaviour towards her in a local street while intoxicated.
Viera, who has prior convictions for assault and criminal damage against the same woman, was found guilty by a jury at Truro Crown Court of controlling and coercive behaviour, stalking, and strangulation.
He received a prison sentence of three years and a 10-year restraining order was imposed.
His Honour Judge James Adkin stated that Viera's conduct was driven by aggression, jealousy, and violence, often under the influence of alcohol and drugs, aimed at bullying a vulnerable woman.
