HULL MAN JAILED FOR SETTING FIRE TO DOMESTIC ABUSE SAFE HOUSE
Robinson, 25, formerly of Holland Street, Hull, admitted arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered, on April 28, 2020.
The court heard Robinson had previously been involved in violent incidents and had a conviction for 29 offences including possessing knives, threatening behaviour, assault, and criminal damage.
He set fire to a domestic abuse safe house in east Hull, which was used by a charity for victims.
The blaze destroyed the house, caused £31,200 damage, and left a woman and her young daughter homeless, losing irreplaceable possessions.
Robinson was jailed for four years and three months and was given a 10-year restraining order.
The court noted that the fire was likely a 'spiteful' revenge attack after Robinson was banned from the property and had earlier told the woman he would do something she couldn't come back from.
Robinson later showed remorse, dropping to his knees and saying 'Thank God you are not in there' after the fire, and he was under the influence of drink or drugs at the time.
The woman described the attack as the culmination of a long history of domestic abuse.
