DEAN HARPER FROM FFAIR RHOS JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES AND IMAGE DISTRIBUTION
In June 2018, Dean Harper, a 61-year-old resident of Sisial y Pin, Ffair Rhos, was sentenced to prison following serious allegations of child sexual abuse and the distribution of indecent images.Harper was found guilty of possessing a significant number of illicit images, with authorities confirming that he had downloaded 317 images classified as Category A, the most severe level of indecency, along with 400 images in Category B and an additional 500 in Category C.
These images depicted children in explicit and illegal contexts, highlighting the gravity of his offenses.
Furthermore, Harper admitted to actively sending images across all three categories to a third party, all on a single day, which underscores his deliberate involvement in the distribution of illegal material.
The court also heard that Harper attempted to entice a young girl into sexual activity, fully aware that she was under the age of 13.
This attempt to engage a minor in sexual conduct added a disturbing dimension to his criminal behavior.
Prosecutor Kevin Jones informed Swansea Crown Court that the police were alerted to Harper’s activities following the distribution of the images.
A subsequent raid was conducted at Harper’s residence, where authorities seized his computer equipment for examination.
An investigation into his internet activity revealed that Harper had made contact with a girl via social media platforms, exchanging messages that further implicated him in the grooming process.
Judge Mr.
Recorder Peter Griffiths emphasized the seriousness of Harper’s offenses, stating that despite Harper’s physical condition—being in a wheelchair—his crimes warranted a substantial custodial sentence.
The court sentenced Harper to two years in prison.
Additionally, Harper was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for a period of ten years.
To prevent any further contact with minors and restrict his online activity, he was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in effect after his release from incarceration.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and the importance of stringent legal measures to protect vulnerable minors from predators.
