In April 2018, a serious case unfolded involving David Thornley, a 65-year-old resident of Wymondham Road, East Carleton, who was found to possess indecent images of children despite his attempts to erase them from his devices.

The incident was brought to light during a court hearing where it was revealed that Thornley had made efforts to delete the illicit material after suspecting police investigation.

Norfolk police, acting on intelligence, seized Thornley's computer equipment before he could fully remove the incriminating files.

Despite his efforts to cover his tracks, authorities managed to recover a small but significant number of images.

Prosecutor Richard Potts, presenting the case via a video link from Ipswich Crown Court, confirmed that police investigations uncovered Thornley's online searches for material involving pre-teen children.

Among the images recovered, some fell into the most serious category, depicting children as young as three years old, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.

Thornley was charged with possessing indecent images of children.

During the court proceedings at Norwich Crown Court, he admitted to the charges, acknowledging his possession of such material.

In response, Judge Maureen Bacon sentenced him to a two-year community order, emphasizing that this was intended to facilitate his access to behavioral help and rehabilitation.

Judge Bacon addressed Thornley's awareness of the investigation, stating that he had been
