In April 2018, a serious case unfolded involving David Thornley, a 65-year-old resident of Wymondham Road, East Carleton, who was found to possess indecent images of children despite his attempts to erase them from his devices. The incident was brought to light during a court hearing where it was revealed that Thornley had made efforts to delete the illicit material after suspecting police investigation.

Norfolk police, acting on intelligence, seized Thornley's computer equipment before he could fully remove the incriminating files.
