DAVID TAYLOR FROM WEST DIDSBURY CONVICTED OF INDECENT VIDEOS INVOLVING BOYS IN MANCHESTER
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, David Harry Taylor, a youth football coach based in West Didsbury, was found guilty of possessing indecent videos depicting naked boys. The conviction was reached swiftly, with the jury deliberating for only five minutes before returning a verdict of guilt.Taylor, aged 41, who served as both a coach and welfare officer at the Manchester football club NJ Wythenshawe, faced serious allegations after police uncovered evidence at his residence. Following his arrest, he was suspended by the Football Association, a move that underscored the gravity of the accusations against him.
The police raid on Taylor’s home took place in November 2013, during an investigation unrelated to the current charges. Although the initial inquiry did not lead to formal proceedings at that time, it resulted in the discovery of ten DVDs stored at his address. These discs became central to the subsequent criminal case.
Upon examination, authorities found that the DVDs contained approximately 14 hours of footage involving boys aged between eight and 15 years old. The footage depicted the minors initially clothed during physical activities, but some scenes later showed the boys in vulnerable situations, such as being naked in showers or saunas. Prosecutor Fiona McNeill described the content as professionally produced, although it was classified as the lowest category of indecent images.
During the trial at Liverpool Crown Court, the jury was shown selected clips from the videos. It was clarified that these videos were not produced by Taylor himself but were part of the indecent material found on the discs. Taylor, who resides on Rawsley Avenue, chose not to give evidence in his defense.
As the case concluded, Taylor was granted bail ahead of his sentencing scheduled for the following month. Meanwhile, Judge Paul Lawton ordered him to register as a sex offender, a standard legal requirement in cases involving such offenses. The community and the football fraternity await further developments as the legal process continues.
