DAVID SPEARS FROM BEDMINSTER DOWN CAUGHT WITH OVER 5,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN BRISTOL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, David Spears, a resident of Bedminster Down, has been brought before the court following the discovery of a large collection of indecent images of children stored on his personal devices. The investigation began when police executed a search warrant at Spears' residence on Bishopsworth Road on July 13, 2018. During the search, authorities uncovered a disturbing cache of digital material, including a total of 5,233 images and videos depicting the abuse of minors.

Spears, aged 54, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court earlier this week to face charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children. He pleaded guilty to making such images, a revelation that has added to the gravity of the case. Prosecutor Hannah Depledge outlined the details of the investigation, explaining that the police obtained a warrant after linking Spears’ property to the possession of illegal material involving minors.

When officers arrived at the residence, Spears was present along with his parents. Upon questioning, he acknowledged their presence and was cooperative enough to lead officers to his bedroom, where he identified several devices as his own. These devices included a laptop with its battery removed, a USB flash drive, a computer tower, and various external storage units. The authorities’ examination of these devices revealed a disturbing collection of content.

Among the files recovered were 668 images and videos classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of illegal material, which depicted the rape and torture of young children. The evidence also included digital “quick links” with explicit labels such as “preteen” and “11-year-old little boy,” highlighting the disturbing nature of the content stored on Spears’ devices.

The case has been adjourned for further proceedings, with the next hearing scheduled to take place at Bristol Crown Court on October 7.
