ELLESMERE PORT MAN JAILED FOR HISTORIC SEX CRIMES
An Ellesmere Port man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for historic sex crimes.David Lightfoot, aged 72, a pub owner in Wrexham but residing in Parklands View, Little Sutton, was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault against a man.
Additionally, he was convicted of a sexual assault against a child during a court session on September 25.
He was among five men who received prison sentences for their involvement in a paedophile ring operating in the 1980s.
During the trial, the judge highlighted the bravery of the victims who came forward and shared their experiences, stating: “It is a real testimony to their courage that they came forward to give evidence in a measured and most impressive way.
They had to live with what you did to them.” He also noted the profound impact of the abuse on their lives, contrasting it with the defendants’ ability to continue their lives seemingly unaffected.
The judge accused Lightfoot of permitting excessive alcohol consumption at Snowy’s Bar, his pub where some offences occurred.
All five defendants are mandated to register as sex offenders for life.
