DAVID HANFORD OF LLANELLI JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In May 2009, a Llanelli-based businessman was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.David John Hanford, aged 41, was charged after the teenager’s mother grew suspicious and authorities uncovered nearly 150 text messages—many of a sexual nature—sent from Hanford's mobile phone to the girl.
At the time of his arrest, Hanford, who resides at Pleasant View, Felinfoel, was managing a double-glazing company in Llanelli, Swansea Crown Court heard.
Initially, the girl denied any sexual activity with Hanford, according to prosecutor Philip Harris-Jenkins.
However, she later admitted that Hanford had taken her to secluded areas in Gower and other remote spots around Llanelli.
Hanford pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child and was ordered to be registered as a sex offender for a period of 10 years.
He was also disqualified from working with children in the future.
