MAN JAILED OVER SEXUAL MESSAGES TO CHILD DECOY
A "vile" man has been jailed after sending sexual messages to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl, but who was actually an undercover police officer.David Glover, 65, of Hull, admitted to sexual communication with a child and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.He also pleaded guilty to possession of extreme pornographic images and three counts of making indecent images of a child.Glover was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and was handed a sexual harm prevention order at Hull Crown Court on Monday.An investigation in September 2024 found Glover tried to encourage a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual communications.
But the profile was a decoy account run by an undercover officer, set up to identify those trying to exploit children online, Humberside Police said.Several mobile phones were found at Glover's home, breaching an existing sexual harm prevention order which required him to register all devices with police.
Indecent photographs and extreme pornographic material were found on his devices, police said.
Det Con Gilligan said Glover was a "vile individual who sought to exploit who he believed to be a vulnerable child".
"I am pleased he is now behind bars and facing the consequences of his disturbing behaviour."
