DAVID GALLOWAY FROM EVEDON JAILED FOR BESTIALITY AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LINCOLN

In May 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving David Galloway, a 65-year-old resident of Evedon, who was sentenced to prison after a series of heinous crimes linked to animal abuse and child exploitation. The investigation was initiated when military police in Lincolnshire uncovered a network of individuals participating in bestiality parties, where women engaged in sexual acts with dogs while other attendees watched. These gatherings, held at various locations, included owners and participants who documented their activities online, sharing details on internet forums.

Among those implicated was Carol Bowditch, a 64-year-old woman who admitted to having sex with dogs at these parties, including a St Bernard named Oscar, a black Labrador called Badger, and an Alsatian named Rocky. Bowditch claimed she was unaware that her actions were illegal, a defense that did not prevent her from being convicted. She testified that she had engaged in these acts over several years, from November 13, 2011, to November 25, 2014, and had also possessed 37 extreme pornographic images, which she admitted on March 21, 2016.

The court heard that Bowditch participated in multiple events where owners would bring their dogs, and women would have sex with the animals, often in front of spectators. During a police search of her home, authorities discovered a DVD and a USB stick containing footage of her engaging in sexual acts with the animals. The analysis of these materials revealed a disturbing eight-minute video showing Bowditch performing vaginal and oral sex with Oscar the St Bernard. In total, officers found at least eight photographs and over 30 video recordings depicting Bowditch in sexual acts with dogs.

Galloway’s involvement was established when he was found to possess a staggering 12,000 indecent images of children, along with 191 photographs of Bowditch having sex with dogs. He admitted to aiding and abetting Bowditch in her acts, stating that their activities began after watching internet pornography involving dogs, and he asked her to participate. Prosecutor Victorio Rose explained that Galloway had also downloaded and possessed a significant number of child abuse images, including 12,332 indecent images of children, 1,863 of which he distributed, along with the 191 extreme images and 29 prohibited images.

The police investigation was triggered by reports from military personnel, which led to the uncovering of these disturbing activities. The evidence presented in court painted a picture of a deeply depraved series of acts involving both animal abuse and child exploitation. Bowditch was sentenced to a community order with 12 months of supervision and a 16-week night-time curfew. Galloway, on the other hand, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years, and faced the gravity of his crimes, which included downloading and distributing child abuse images.

Judge Michael Heath expressed his disbelief at Galloway’s actions, stating, ‘It is beyond me to understand how you, having a female partner, stood by and even aided and abetted her in having sex with three dogs. But that wasn’t the end of it. You also downloaded indecent images of children,’ highlighting the severity and depravity of the offenses committed by both individuals.
