DAVID EVANS FROM UPPER BRYNAMAN INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ONLINE SCAMS IN AMMANFORD AND SWANSEA

In December 2014, a disturbing case emerged involving David Evans, a 39-year-old man from Upper Brynaman, who engaged in a series of heinous online activities targeting young girls in the Ammanford area. Evans had created a fake Facebook profile, posing as a teenage boy, with the sinister intent of deceiving teenage girls into sending him explicit images. His actions came to light after authorities uncovered his email address during an international anti-paedophile operation based in North America.

According to court proceedings, Evans used this false identity to initiate sexually explicit conversations with girls as young as 13 years old. He exploited the social media platform to manipulate and groom these vulnerable teenagers, asking them to send topless and nude photographs. The prosecutor, Ellie Morgan, detailed how Evans had amassed a collection of images, some of which depicted girls in their underwear, while others were completely naked. The images included both mature women and minors, with some of the children being under 16 years old.

Further investigation revealed that Evans had a troubling collection of indecent photographs stored on his computer. The police found 16 inappropriate images, which were classified as Category C, indicating they were among the least severe in terms of indecency but still highly illegal. These images ranged from children aged five or six up to 14 years old, and most depicted the children in suggestive poses, often in underwear, without any sexual activity being explicitly shown.

Evans admitted to 16 counts of making indecent photographs of children during his court appearance at Llanelli Magistrates Court. The case was subsequently transferred to Swansea Crown Court for sentencing. District Judge Neil Thomas warned Evans that he could face a prison sentence and ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared. Evans was released on bail under strict conditions, including cooperation with probation services and a prohibition on unsupervised contact with any minors under 16. He was scheduled to return to Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 11 for further proceedings.
