DAVID DIXON OF FAR CET JAILED FOR 11 YEARS FOR GROOMING AND RAPE IN PETERBOROUGH
In May 2014, David Dixon, a 28-year-old man from Farcet, was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of serious sexual offences and assault.Dixon was found guilty of three counts of rape, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and common assault following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court.
He denied all charges.
Prosecutors revealed that Dixon had groomed a 14-year-old girl for several months last summer before subjecting her to sexual assault in his caravan and a nearby hut near the Crown Lakes beauty spot.
When he learned that police were investigating her allegations, Dixon tracked her down and, in a show of intimidation, pinned her against a wall and threatened her family if she contacted authorities.
The court also heard that Dixon’s violent tendencies surfaced during his arrest when officers arrived.
He refused to put down an axe he was wielding to cut wood and threatened officers, prompting police to Taser him to subdue him.
In addition to the convictions related to rape and child sexual activity, Dixon was also found guilty of possessing a bladed article and witness intimidation.
He was convicted of threatening a man connected to the case with a machete.
Detective Constable Mark Andrews commented on the case, stating, “This is a case of a 28-year-old man targeting a vulnerable young girl and taking advantage of her.
However, she has shown great bravery in coming forward to police and then giving evidence against him at court.” DC Andrews added, “Dixon is a deeply unpleasant man who thinks nothing of using violence to get what he wants.
We will not tolerate such behaviour and will seek to put such offenders before the courts.”
