CAERPHILLY MAN FOUND GUILTY OF DOMESTIC ABUSE OFFENCES
A man has been convicted of domestic abuse charges after a trial but has been cleared of charges related to stealing designer handbags and jewelry from his victim.David Davies, aged 57, of Penrhiw Lane, Machen, Caerphilly, was found guilty by a jury of engaging in controlling and coercive behavior within an intimate relationship by managing her finances.
He was also convicted of three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.
However, he was acquitted of theft and one additional count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The offences took place between July 1, 2024, and January 24 of this year, prosecutor Paul Hewitt informed Newport Crown Court.
After the verdicts, Davies was remanded into custody.
Judge Eugen Egan postponed sentencing to allow for the preparation of a comprehensive pre-sentence report.
The court was told that bail was denied because Davies was considered likely to reoffend and unlikely to cooperate, given the severity and nature of the crimes.
He is scheduled to return to the crown court for sentencing on September 1.
