A man who urged what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl to send him intimate pictures has been spared a jail sentence.Burgess had sent sexualised messages via Snapchat asking for images of the youngster’s underwear, bottom, and breasts.
The article states he was communicating with an undercover police officer posing as a girl called Layla.
Prosecutor Paul Brown said the messages had become sexual despite the officer making it clear the account was supposedly that of a pre-teen.
Burgess had also sent an image of himself in a state of undress.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child between May 22 and June 19 last year.
Magistrates sentenced him to 12 weeks suspended for 18 months with a requirement to complete rehabilitation programmes and 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was also made subject of a seven-year sexual harm prevention order.
Gina Mattioli, mitigating, said it was out of character and that he had already sought help to address his actions.
