DAVID BROWN FROM HINTLESHAM SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST NINE BOYS IN IPSWICH
In a significant case that has shocked the local community, David Brown, a 40-year-old man originally from Hintlesham near Ipswich, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after admitting to a series of serious sexual offences involving minors. The case came to light after Brown was taken into custody in January 2019, following allegations of sexual assault against a boy under the age of 13. The police investigation that ensued uncovered a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior spanning over a year and a half.Brown, who was residing on Duke Street in Hintlesham at the time, faced multiple charges when he appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, 21 August. The court heard that he had pleaded guilty to a total of 20 separate offences, which included sexual misconduct, exploitation, and the creation of indecent images. Specifically, Brown admitted to six counts of intentionally touching a boy under 13 for sexual purposes, as well as four counts of inciting or causing sexual activity with a minor under 13. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy, highlighting the extent of his misconduct.
Further charges included three counts related to the possession of indecent images, and six counts of voyeurism, indicating a pattern of invasive and predatory behavior. The offences took place over a period from July 2017 to January 2019, revealing a sustained campaign of abuse and exploitation.
The court's sentencing reflected the severity of Brown’s actions. He was sentenced to a total of eleven years and one month in prison. Moreover, he will be subject to an extended licence period of three years following his release, ensuring ongoing supervision and restrictions. In addition to his imprisonment, Brown was ordered to be subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which aims to prevent any future offending. He was also mandated to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure that underscores the gravity of his crimes and the community’s need for ongoing protection.
