HERTFORDSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX-PARTNER WITH GANG
Charles Vance, residing on Stag Lane in Chorleywood, received a prison sentence of two years and four months after being convicted at St Albans Crown Court last Friday (May 10) for conspiracy to stalk and causing fear of violence.
The 43-year-old also falsely claimed to be a victim of the same stalker and reported fictitious individuals to the authorities, actions for which he was sentenced to an additional eight months for attempting to obstruct justice, to run alongside his primary term.
A restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim was imposed for five years.
During proceedings, it was revealed that Vance had harassed his former partner from April 23, 2022, to January 28, 2023, through hundreds of text messages and phone calls, some containing threats of violence.
He also made threats about impregnating her child and sent her death threats via a contact named 'Hannah.' Unbeknownst to her, a GPS tracker was affixed to her car to monitor her whereabouts, and acts of intimidation such as graffiti, window-breaking, and the delivery of lilies symbolizing death were carried out.
Vance enlisted the assistance of accomplices—Sean Kellard, Ryan Burton, and David Black—to sustain the harassment.
Kellard, aged 32 and from Newton Road, Newbury, was paid to make threatening calls as if he were 'Hannah’s brother' and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
Burton, aged 25 from Mount Pleasant Lane in Bricket Wood, received an 18-month suspended sentence over two years, combined with community service and a curfew, after he vandalized her car windows and made threatening sounds in calls.
Black, aged 30 from Anglefield Road, Caversham, was sentenced to nine months suspended for two years, along with 200 hours of unpaid work, and plans to send messages and acquire a tracker for her vehicle.
All three men are set to be deported to Albania after completing their sentences.
