REDDITCH SEX OFFENDER DAVEY JAMES SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON

In May 2011, a Redditch man named Davey Kevin James, aged 42 and residing on Arthur Street, Lakeside, was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for multiple serious sexual offences.

He was convicted of four counts of rape, six counts of gross indecency with a child, and seven counts of indecent assault against a minor.

At Worcester Crown Court, James was also informed that he would be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life once his sentence concludes.

Judge Alistair McCreath delivered the sentence, stating that James had shown no remorse and that the victims had been re-victimized merely by having to give evidence in court.

The judge highlighted that James, in a position of trust, had committed sustained abuse, including acts of violence, over a span of years.

Following a two-week trial, a jury found James guilty on May 11 of all charges; he had denied the allegations throughout the proceedings.

The sexual abuse occurred over an 11-year period, from 1988 to 1999, the court learned.

The investigation into the offences was launched after one victim came forward in November 2007, followed by another in 2008.

James was formally charged in May 2009.

Detective Constable Dave Jennings of Redditch CID, who led the case, commented: “This was a particularly unpleasant and tortuous case.

The outcome is a triumph for justice.”
