DARYL MANN FROM WELLWOOD INVOLVED IN VIOLENT OUTBURST AT HIS HOME
A distressing and aggressive disturbance unfolded at a residence in Wellwood involving Daryl Mann, a 32-year-old man whose actions have now led to legal proceedings. Mann, residing on Burt Street, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face sentencing after admitting to a series of disruptive and violent behaviors that took place on October 6.According to court reports, Mann had gone out at approximately 3:40 pm to purchase alcohol. Upon returning home, he began consuming the drinks he had bought, and his drinking continued throughout the day. Witnesses noted that Mann was frequently entering and leaving a neighbor’s house during this period, which seemed to coincide with his escalating agitation.
As the evening progressed, Mann’s demeanor grew increasingly hostile. He started shouting and swearing at his partner, with witnesses recounting that he yelled, “You always cause f****** arguments.” The situation worsened when his partner informed him that she intended to end their relationship. This emotional upheaval prompted family members, including her parents, to visit the residence in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
During this confrontation, the depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf explained that Mann’s anger boiled over further. He shouted back at her parents, demanding, “Who the f*** do you think you are?” His frustration culminated in him punching a hole in a bedroom door, an act that demonstrated the severity of his outburst.
Police officers were called to the scene, arriving to find the woman in tears, clearly distressed by the events. Mann’s behavior was described as aggressive and disruptive, contributing to a tense and upsetting environment for everyone involved.
In court, defence solicitor David McLaughlin acknowledged Mann’s history of similar conduct, stating, “He has a history of this type of behaviour.” The sheriff, Charles Macnair, characterized the incident as “nasty” and highlighted that Mann’s actions were part of a pattern of offences against partners spanning nearly a decade.
As a result of the court proceedings, Sheriff Macnair imposed a community payback order, which includes 12 months of supervision and 135 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, a non-harassment order was issued, preventing Mann from contacting or approaching the victim for a period of two years, in an effort to prevent further incidents and protect those involved.
