DARYL JENKINS FROM HAMPSHIRE SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In March 2019, Daryl Jenkins, a man from Hampshire, was found in possession of indecent images of children as young as four years old. Authorities discovered that Jenkins had more than 50 such images when they searched his computer and mobile phone. Additionally, police found over a dozen moving images, most of which were classified as the most serious category. The 31-year-old appeared at Southampton Crown Court, where he received an eight-month suspended sentence. Prosecutor Matthew Lawson explained that Jenkins's case came to light during an investigation into peer-to-peer internet chatrooms. During the raid at his home on Bracken Road, North Baddesley, in September 2017, officers seized his devices and questioned him about the images. Jenkins admitted, "I used to do it along time ago."
Analysis of his devices revealed a total of 20 category-A images—the most severe category—along with 12 category-B images and 32 category-C images. Among these, 11 were category-A films, while there were also eight moving images classified as categories B and C.
Judge Nicholas Rowland sentenced Jenkins to eight months for the category-A images, six months for category-B images, and four months for category-C images. These sentences were ordered to run concurrently, with the overall sentence suspended for two years. The judge stated, "I very much hope this will be your one and only appearance before the courts."
Jenkins was also made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be on the sex offenders register for the same period.
