DARYL GARRITY'S STIRRING PURSUIT IN THE HIGHLANDS: SHOCKING STALKING INCIDENT IN STIRLINGSHIRE
A man named Daryl Garrity from the region of Stirlingshire has been subjected to a substantial financial penalty after a disturbing series of events that involved him relentlessly pursuing his former partner across the scenic Highlands. The incident, which spanned several days, culminated in Garrity entering the victim’s campervan on two separate occasions, causing her significant fear and distress.According to court records, Garrity had engaged in a course of conduct that alarmed his ex-girlfriend between November 2 and November 5 of the previous year. The woman, who was traveling through the Highlands with friends, first noticed Garrity following her vehicle on November 2. The situation escalated when her campervan was parked on the outskirts of Tyndrum, a well-known village in the Highlands, where Garrity forcibly entered her vehicle despite her pleas for him to leave. This invasion of her personal space was deeply unsettling and contributed to her growing sense of alarm.
Further troubling events occurred on November 5, around 6 am near Ullapool, another picturesque location in the Highlands. Garrity approached her campervan once again, requesting to speak with her. Despite her repeated requests for him to leave, Garrity entered her campervan, once more disregarding her wishes. After this intrusion, he drove away in his own vehicle, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. Garrity was subsequently traced and located by law enforcement officers on November 7.
In addition to these incidents, Garrity admitted to breaching a bail condition by attempting to contact his former partner again on January 8 of this year. His actions demonstrated a continued pattern of harassment and disregard for legal restrictions designed to protect the victim.
During the court proceedings, Garrity’s legal representative explained that his client was attempting to salvage his relationship, though Garrity himself acknowledged that he had 'learnt the error of his ways.' The court was informed of Garrity’s prior convictions related to domestic issues, as well as a previous matter involving road traffic violations. It was also noted that Garrity faced opposition from his parents regarding tagging in his family home, adding context to his personal circumstances.
In sentencing, the sheriff imposed a fine of £900, reduced from an initial £1,000, along with a surcharge. Garrity was also ordered to complete 90 hours of unpaid community service as a consequence of breaching his bail conditions. Furthermore, a six-month non-harassment order was issued, explicitly prohibiting him from approaching or contacting the complainant in any manner, aiming to prevent further distress or intimidation.
This case highlights the serious consequences of stalking and harassment, especially when involving repeated invasions of personal space and disregard for legal protections. The authorities in the Highlands continue to emphasize the importance of respecting individuals’ boundaries and adhering to court orders designed to ensure safety and peace of mind.
