In a case heard at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, Darryl Wyper, a 32-year-old resident of Kelso, faced serious allegations of persistent and invasive communication directed at his former partner following their breakup. Over a span of just two days, Wyper made an astonishing total of 872 phone calls and sent 23 text messages, demonstrating a pattern of behavior that authorities deemed abusive and intrusive.

The court proceedings revealed that Wyper pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that was deemed abusive towards his ex-partner during February. This behavior was characterized by relentless attempts to contact her through multiple channels, causing significant distress and concern for her well-being.

As part of his sentencing, Wyper was placed under a two-year supervision order, which involves regular monitoring and potential intervention to prevent further misconduct. Additionally, he was mandated to participate in the Caledonian Men’s Programme, a rehabilitation initiative aimed at addressing issues related to abusive behavior and promoting healthier relationships.

Furthermore, a non-harassment order was issued by the court, explicitly prohibiting Wyper from having any form of contact with his former partner for a period of three years. This legal measure is designed to protect her from any future attempts at communication or contact, ensuring her safety and peace of mind moving forward.
