A man who subjected his former partner to harassment and violated a strict court order has been sentenced to prison.
Darren Wheeler, aged 39, visited the victim’s former residence in Eastfield, Peterborough, around 9:15 a.m.
on April 21.
At that time, she was there to collect personal belongings from the house, which Wheeler was legally prohibited from entering due to a restraining order.
This order was granted at Cambridge Crown Court in December 2024 following Wheeler’s conviction for causing grievous bodily harm without intent to a man, and it carried a suspended sentence.
Concerns about Wheeler’s presence led the victim to lock the doors.
Nevertheless, Wheeler went to the backyard, damaged a fence, and used the broken wood to break the back door.
Police responded to the incident.
Wheeler then fled through a window and drove away in a vehicle.
He was subsequently detained on May 2 at a residence in Bretton, Peterborough.
On November 28, at Cambridge Crown Court, Wheeler, of Deerleep, Bretton, received a one-year prison sentence after admitting to harassment charges, which also triggered the enforcement of his suspended sentence.
