OXFORDSHIRE PAEDOPHILE JAILED AFTER INDECENT IMAGES FOUND
An image has been released of an Oxfordshire paedophile jailed after he was found to have indecent images of children.
Darren Phelps, of High Street, Drayton St.
Leonard, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, November 17.
The 59-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order, three counts of making indecent images of children, and one count of being in possession of a prohibited image of a child.
The court heard he had two category A, one category B, 128 category C, and 143 prohibited images of children.
Prosecution barrister Serena Lit told the court that Phelps' initial sexual harm prevention order was imposed in March 2022 after he was convicted of five charges of being in possession of indecent images of children.
On February 4 2023, officers visited his home to inspect his electronic devices and found images of a child around 14-years-old, with a laptop under his mattress and a USB stick containing indecent images.
Further images were found on two electronic tablets.
Judge Michael Roques said officers discovered images of what appeared to be a 14-year-old girl, considering this a serious breach involving a significant risk of harm.
Phelps was jailed for 20 months, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order was issued, along with destruction of his electronic devices.
