DARREN DONALDSON FROM ABERDEEN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN PERTH AND KINROSS

A young man from Aberdeen, Darren Donaldson, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual assault that took place in Perth and Kinross.

The incident involved the victim, a teenage girl, whom Donaldson targeted after picking her up from a sleepover, taking advantage of her heavily intoxicated state when she was unable to give proper consent.

Donaldson, aged 19 and originally from Dyce, Aberdeen, was identified as the perpetrator through a court case that culminated in a guilty verdict in September at the High Court in Glasgow.

The court proceedings revealed that Donaldson had initially attempted to gain entry to the house where the girl was staying in August 2022 but was refused.

Later that evening, due to her intoxication, friends of the girl helped her to bed, believing she was too drunk to care for herself.

Despite this, Donaldson returned to the scene, collected the girl, and drove her to an address in Perth and Kinross.

There, he committed the assault, raping her while she was vulnerable.

The girl, who was only 17 at the time, was then driven back to her friend's house.

The following morning, she experienced flashbacks of the assault, which prompted her to report the incident to the police.
