ABERDEEN VET STAFF FEAR BIZARRE STALKER IN COURT
A man named Darren Cran appeared in court and admitted to stalking staff at a PDSA veterinary practice located in Aberdeen. The offending behavior took place over several months between April 22 and September 29 in the previous year.
Cran repeatedly watched the staff from his flat above the vet clinic on George Street, frequently staring at them through his windows.
He also approached the staff inside the practice, asking if they were single and making flirtatious remarks.
Several instances included Cran entering the clinic to inquire about a specific veterinarian, asking if she was still working, and showing a clear pattern of unwanted attention and disturbing conduct.
One notable event involved Cran approaching an employee outside the clinic, asking personal questions and indicating he had been watching her, which caused fear among the staff and led to police involvement.
Cran was arrested and during police interviews, he acknowledged that he had been watching the staff and had a specific 'type' he liked—small, skinny, blonde with blue eyes.
He also claimed that the female staff member was engaging with him by smiling and making flirtatious gestures.
Additionally, Cran faced a separate charge of behaving threateningly and abusively towards police officers at his flat and en route to a station, where he made sexual remarks towards a female officer and tried to physically contact her.
His defense lawyer requested a deferment of sentencing for psychiatric reports, noting the behavior was 'not entirely straightforward' and 'slightly bizarre in many ways,' indicating a possible psychiatric background.
The sheriff deferred sentencing until late June to await further reports.
