KINGSWINFORD SEX ATTACKER JAILED FOR SCHOOLGIRL ASSAULT
A Kingswinford man convicted of assaulting a schoolgirl has received a prison sentence of four years and four months.Darren Bishop, aged 20, committed the assault after walking with a 13-year-old girl to a field.
During the incident, he also sent her abusive text messages that included threats to harm her family members.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday, May 26, Judge Nicholas Webb was informed that Bishop had previous convictions related to violence and dishonesty, and had been cautioned twice by police for sexual misconduct involving a minor.
The judge remarked to Bishop that his actions were serious and entirely unlawful, emphasizing that the victim clearly objected and was left in noticeable distress following the attack.
Bishop, who resides on The Portway, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault, burglary, attempted burglary, and assault causing actual bodily harm to a 14-year-old boy.
Furthermore, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and prohibited from working with children.
Prosecutor Rhiannon Jones stated that Bishop forced the schoolgirl onto the ground and, despite her resistance, committed the sexual assault.
In addition, Miss Jones recounted that Bishop, along with his brother, assaulted a schoolboy who was punched and kicked while they had followed him on a bus to Dudley.
Bishop also broke into a property on Greenfield Road, Kingswinford, where he stole items including three watches and three cameras containing sentimental images, before attempting to enter another nearby property.
Defending him, Peter Arnold explained that Bishop was a young man eager to impress his friends, which he claimed was behind his “ugly” criminal behavior.
