NEWTOWN DAD JAILED FOR SUFFOCATING EX-PARTNER IN ARGUMENT
A Newtown dad has been jailed for suffocating his ex-partner "to shut her up" during a terrifying ordeal at her own home.Daniel Thomas Breeze grabbed the woman in a bear hug and then prevented her from breathing by covering her nose and mouth at the property in Trehafren.
The 35-year-old eventually released her after the "hysterically crying" victim had "frantically" tapped his arms to alert him she couldn't breathe.
Welshpool Magistrates' Court heard he justified suffocating the woman during an argument in July because it was the "only way to shut her up".
The victim didn't report the attack because Breeze eventually apologized.
During another argument a week later, Breeze pushed the woman on the staircase before she fled with their child.
On the same day, Breeze, who had been drinking, verbally abused her and punched her fridge, causing her to flee again with her child.
Breeze was found guilty of intentional suffocation and assault by beating following a trial; he had pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order and failing to comply with a community order.
Breeze, who lives in Trehafren, was sentenced to 15 months in prison, with the court activating his previous suspended sentence because of his past convictions, and extending the restraining order till November 2032.
He is ordered to pay a £187 victim surcharge upon release.
