CADISHEAD OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR DEPRAVED SEXUAL ASSAULT
Daniel James, aged 22, was found guilty of a brutal sexual assault that took place at his residence on Nelson Drive, Cadishead, early on July 6, 2019.The assault involved him invading a sleeping woman in her 50s while she was unconscious.
Greater Manchester Police described the incident as 'abhorrent and depraved,' emphasizing the nature of the attack.
James had left a social gathering with friends before entering the woman’s room, where he assaulted her.
The victim awoke during the assault and managed to fend him off, after which James fled the scene.
She reported the assault to authorities later that day, and James surrendered himself the following day after escaping from his home.
At Manchester Crown Court, he received a sentence of six years and three months after admitting to rape.
Additionally, he was ordered to be registered as a sex offender indefinitely.
Detective Constable Leanne Jackson commented, 'James targeted a vulnerable woman in a depraved and predatory manner.' The court's decision reflects the seriousness of his crimes, and the case underscores the ongoing need for justice in sexual offense cases.
