BEWSEY MAN SPARED JAIL AFTER ASSAULTING EX-PARTNER
A man from Bewsey, Daniel Fregene, was involved in a serious domestic assault.
According to court reports, he grabbed his partner by the throat and punched her, leaving her with bruises and a lump, and causing her to fear for her life.
The incident occurred on April 16 of the year at Folly Lane, after they had been out for a meal and drinks.
A passer-by witnessed Fregene pushing the woman against the window of his flat, which prompted them to call the police.
When officers responded, they found Fregene in possession of a truncheon.
In court, Fregene pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a private place, and was convicted after trial of assault and intimidating a witness.
The victim was able to escape and contact her family, who reported the incident.
The court noted Fregene's previous convictions for six offences.
He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to complete 45 days of rehabilitation and 60 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was required to pay £965 in court costs, a £128 surcharge, and £200 in compensation to the victim, and was placed under a two-year restraining order.
