ELY MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS ATTACK ON WIFE WITH KITCHEN KNIFE

Daniel Crow, aged 54, was convicted and sentenced to four years and six months in prison after he attacked his wife in their home near Ely, in Little Downham. The incident took place on 25 January, shortly after the couple's relationship had ended and Crow had agreed to move out. During the attack, Crow was found at the kitchen sink when he used a large kitchen knife to stab his wife repeatedly. The victim screamed for him to stop, but he persisted in the assault. She tried to defend herself by blocking the knife with her arms as Crow forced her to the floor and held her in a headlock. The knife was eventually dropped from his hand, and her phone was thrown across the floor in the struggle. Despite her pleas for him to consider their children, Crow ignored her. He then again picked up the knife, blocking her exit from the property by standing at the kitchen doorway. The woman managed to grab her phone and run to the bathroom to lock the door before Crow left the house. She sustained multiple cuts and puncture wounds to her stomach, arms, hands, face, and body. Crow was later arrested in Ely the same day, with police discovering several weapons in his car, including pepper spray, a flick knife, a metal whip with a bayonet, a knuckle duster, and scalpels. At Cambridge Crown Court on 23 June, Crow admitted to wounding with intent and possession of weapons. Judge Andrew Hurst described the attack as terrifying, noting that the victim feared for her life. Detective Constable Luca Bellomo praised her quick thinking in calling the police and stated that she was fortunate to escape with relatively minor injuries. The court sentenced Crow to four years and six months in prison and emphasized the horrifying nature of the attack. The court's verdict underscores the severity of domestic violence and the importance of swift justice in such cases.
