POWYS SEX OFFENDER FACES JAIL FOR DELETING INTERNET HISTORY
A Powys sex offender has been told that he could be sent to prison after he admitted deleting his internet history.Daniel Coulton, 59, pleaded guilty to four charges including perverting the course of public justice when he appeared in the dock at the crown court on Thursday (May 8).
The offences, which happened almost three years ago on June 12, 2022, include failing to tell Dyfed-Powys Police that he had a device capable of accessing the internet.
He also admitted that on three occasions he downloaded online privacy software DuckDuckGo and deleted the internet history.
The restrictions on his internet use are part of a sexual harm prevention order made by Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court in August 2019.
Coulton, of Trallong, between Sennybridge and Brecon, will be sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Tuesday, June 17.
Her Honour Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke told the 59-year-old that "all sentencing options are open" but generally cases of this kind result in immediate custody.
Coulton was released from the dock on one bail condition which requires him to live and sleep at his address in Trallong.
The Probation Service will visit Coulton to conduct a report before sentencing in June.
