NUNEATON MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PARTNER AT CARAVAN PARK
Daniel Cotterill, a 35-year-old man from Stanford Court, Nuneaton, was sentenced to 14 months in jail for the assault on his then partner at a caravan park in Dyffryn Ardudwy, Gwynedd.
The court heard that Cotterill grabbed his girlfriend by the 'scruff of the neck' and threw her out of a caravan during an argument over their children.
He then punched her hard in the face, leaving her with a black eye and cracked teeth.
As she fell to the ground, he continued to punch her in the face, head, and ribs, with the incident observed by their children, who were left distressed.
Cotterill admitted to assaulting her by actual bodily harm, claiming it was in self-defense after she accused him of kidnapping their children.
She suffered serious injuries including a swollen black eye, broken teeth, a bleeding mouth, and sore ribs, and she also felt concussed.
The police were called, and Cotterill accepted his actions but maintained that he reacted improperly.
He was remanded in Wrexham's HMP Wrexham, where he read a letter accepting he made a 'big mistake' and requested a community order.
The judge, Nicola Saffman, stated that his behavior was 'disproportionate' and sentenced him to 14 months in prison, also imposing a three-year restraining order to prevent contact with the victim outside of arrangements related to their children.
