A man named Curtis McAtamney, aged 24, has been sentenced to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to wounding with intent following an attack on his girlfriend in May at Croydon. The assault involved punching her in the face, which resulted in her being hospitalized. The incident was part of an 'extended' period of domestic abuse during which she was forced to seek medical treatment for her injuries. The police investigation was led by Acting Detective Sergeant Tom Jones, who stated, 'This is an excellent result and sends a strong message that we will thoroughly and robustly investigate all allegations of domestic abuse and will push for the strongest possible sentencing.' McAtamney, of Whitworth Road, South Norwood, also admitted to supplying cannabis. Authorities emphasized that victims of domestic abuse are urged to contact police on 101, as all reports will be taken seriously and steps will be taken to ensure their safety. The attack followed a long period of violence, highlighting the importance of intervention and support for victims.
