RAPIST JAILED FOR 10-AND-A-HALF YEARS
A 62-year-old man has been sentenced to ten and a half years in prison after being found guilty of multiple acts of violent abuse against a woman.Craig Morrison repeatedly assaulted his victim in Aberdeen, including an incident where he turned her upside down and caused her to hit her head on the floor.
Morrison denied charges during an earlier trial but was convicted by jurors on counts including rape, assault, and making threats or engaging in abusive behavior.
The offences took place over a period from 1982 through 2021.
In mitigation, lawyer Drew McKenzie told the court that Morrison had previously struggled with alcohol addiction but had committed to stopping drinking.
Judge Lady Wise of the High Court described Morrison's conduct as 'violent, degrading and controlling.' It was also announced that Morrison would be placed on the sex offenders register without a specified end date.
