YORKSHIRE POLICE OFFICER GUILTY OF GROSS MISCONDUCT AFTER GROPING TEENAGERS
An officer from Humberside Police has been convicted of inappropriately touching teenage girls.Testimony from two women indicated that inspector Craig Mattinson, aged 47, engaged in sexual assault against them when they were just 14 and 17 years old.
The offenses date back over 20 years.
Mattinson, who has been with Humberside Police since 1997, denied all charges, maintaining that "It never happened." The first complainant, Miss A, recounted that around 2004, Mattinson touched her bottom and groped her breast over her clothes during a visit to her flat.
She also received messages from him, including one where he expressed a desire for her to get "stoned in a miniskirt," and she described an incident where he smirked as he made physical contact.
The second woman, Miss B, claimed that Mattinson had inappropriately touched her and kissed her while he drove her to his home in Hull, where they ate pizza and drank wine.
She also described that he had her tongue down his throat during an intense encounter, with her feeling relief once the pizza arrived.
The hearing established that Mr.
Mattinson visited Miss A’s flat on two occasions, once dressed in police uniform, and that he had a sexually inappropriate and unprofessional relationship with the teenagers.
Though denying the allegations at first, the panel, consisting of two civilians and a police superintendent, found the claims credible, stating that his actions damaged his professional standing.
The panel will decide on the disciplinary action later.
