OFFENDER COREY COLEMAN SENTENCED FOR ANIMAL ABUSE INVOLVING HORSES
A man named Corey Coleman, aged 26, was found to have committed serious animal abuse involving sexual assault on horses. He helped out at Ynyscrug Livery in Pantybrad, Rhondda Cynon Taf, where he assaulted two stallions and a mare. His injuries were explained as 'an element of instant karma' after a stallion allegedly tried to mount him and injured him. The court heard Coleman admitted to two charges of subjecting horses to sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, as well as two charges of failing to protect animals under his care. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. Despite suffering injuries to his back in June, he quickly returned to the stables, claiming that 'one of the stallions had attempted to mount him.' CCTV footage from June and July showed incidents of abuse, though details were unclear, and it was believed that the abuse had been ongoing for many months, often in a busy environment with children nearby. The abused horses, including Stallions Benny and Bear, and a mare called Nala, were found healthy after veterinary examination. Coleman was also disqualified from owning, keeping, or transporting horses for five years and ordered to pay costs of £474. The magistrates emphasized the prolonged nature of his offenses but noted a possibility of rehabilitation. The case revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse, with images of the horses and court testimonies highlighting the severity of the offenses and the court's disapproval of his actions.
