GROVE STALKER JAILED IN OXFORD FOR CONTACTING EX-PARTNER
An ex-partner has been jailed after phoning a woman multiple times, breaching a restraining order.
Connor Walsh, of Wick Green, Grove, contacted the woman multiple times between November 10 and 17 last year, Oxford Crown Court heard.
The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order, which was imposed in July 2024 after Walsh breached a non-molestation order against the same woman.
During the sentencing hearing on Friday, January 16, prosecution barrister Matt Knight told the court that Walsh contacted the woman a number of times and that the contact was unwanted.
On November 10, Walsh phoned the woman and told her that he had been attacked outside a pub, and he asked if the woman had arranged the attack.
She answered: "No." Walsh also made multiple calls on November 12, some of which suggested he knew he was in breach of the restraining order.
Mr Knight said the woman felt harassed and concerned for her wellbeing.
On November 17, he lied to the woman, telling her he was in Germany, when he was in fact in the pub watching boxing.
The victim impact statement described suffering physical and mental abuse, manipulation, and harassment, noting that her mental health was negatively affected, and she had to take time off work.
The court heard Walsh was in breach of a suspended sentence for breaching the non-molestation order when he breached the restraining order.
Walsh was sentenced to 32 months in prison, with a new indefinite restraining order also imposed, staying in place until a new order is made.
The judge noted that Walsh was angry because she reported him to police and had falsely claimed he would surrender himself, asking her to destroy evidence.
Walsh showed very serious distress caused and the judge highlighted his progress in prison, including enrolled courses on drugs and alcohol and good behaviour.
Walsh was also in breach of a suspended sentence for breaching a non-molestation order when he breached the restraining order.
