CONVICTED MURDERER CALLS POLICE TO CONFESS TO HISTORIC KNIFE-POINT RAPE
A man turned himself into police more than 30 years after a "savage" knife-point rape when he was on life licence for murder.Colin Storer, now 66, recently rang 999 and confessed to the operator he raped a woman in 1986.
He told the controller: "It's been playing on my mind for a long time".
Storer has now been recalled on his life licence to prison and has been sentenced to six years for the rape he admitted.
Judge Stuart Rafferty QC imposed a restraining order for 10 years to stay away from the woman.
He was sentenced to life at Nottingham Crown Court in 1974 for murder after stabbing his victim.
He was released on life licence in 1984, and two years later at the aged of 33, he raped the woman at a house in Old Basford.
Storer had turned up at the terraced home with a brick in his hand and threatened to break a window if the woman did not speak to him.
Her ordeal was told to the court in her own words where she described how "I thought that was it.
I thought my life was going to end that night".
Storer raped her with the knife to her throat and "I could not bring myself to scream", she said.
"He violated me that night.
He really did.
I thought I was going to die." "He stood up, pulled his trousers up and laughed at me".
The woman complained to the probation service about what he had done but Storer denied the rape.
Over the years she did not have the courage to go to police, the court heard.
But it was Storer, of Westmoore Close, Mapperley, who could no longer live with what he had done.
He told his partner he could not sleep at night.
"He is now 66.
He felt he could no longer live with the fact of what he had done and deserved to be punished".
