COLIN HORNCASTLE FROM TARPORLEY JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRL IN NORWICH
In a case that has shocked the local community of Tarporley and the wider Norfolk area, Colin Horncastle, a 32-year-old former serviceman of the Royal Air Force, was sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to serious sexual offenses involving a young girl. The incident came to light during a court hearing held at Norwich Crown Court on a recent Wednesday, where Horncastle appeared to face the charges against him.Horncastle, who resides on Back Lane in Dudon Tarpoley, Cheshire, was found guilty of two counts of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13. These offenses took place over a period spanning from November 2006 to 2007, marking a distressing chapter in the young victim’s life. The court proceedings revealed that the crimes involved an element of grooming, with the offences being described as 'specimen counts' by the presiding judge, Simon Barham.
Prosecutor Nick Methold explained that the case only came to light after the young girl confided in a friend about the abuse she had suffered. This disclosure prompted an investigation that ultimately led to Horncastle’s arrest and subsequent court appearance. The judge emphasized the prolonged nature of the offending, which extended over approximately 12 months, highlighting the severity and the breach of trust involved.
In addition to the prison sentence, Horncastle was ordered to register as a sex offender and was disqualified from working with children, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the potential risk to others. The court’s decision underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and the legal system’s commitment to punishing such offenses. Horncastle’s conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of sexual abuse and the ongoing efforts to protect children from harm.
