COLIN HEATH FROM BROWN LEES JAILED FOR DECADES-OLD SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a case that has spanned decades, Colin Heath, a 51-year-old man from Brown Lees, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of a series of sexual assaults that took place during the 1980s.The offenses were committed against a teenage girl, with one of the attacks involving an attempted rape, and these incidents occurred over a prolonged period of time, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
Heath's trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court lasted eight days, during which a jury found him guilty of seven counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape.
The court heard detailed testimony from the victim, who described feeling terrified during the assaults.
Prosecutor Benjamin Lawrence emphasized the lasting emotional impact on her, stating, “The woman describes being terrified during the offending.
She has been emotionally affected by the offending throughout her adult life.
She describes feeling isolated and ashamed and it has affected her relationships.” Following the conviction, the judge sentenced Heath to nine years in prison.
The judge described his actions as part of “a persistent and consistent campaign of inappropriate sexual pestering,” underscoring the severity and ongoing nature of his misconduct.
Heath’s criminal record will also include lifelong registration on the Sex Offenders’ Register, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Furthermore, Heath will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will impose strict limitations on his contact with girls under the age of 16.
This order aims to prevent any potential future harm and ensure community safety.
