RETIRED WICKLOW MAN ADMITS TO HAVING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES AND KIK ACCOUNT
A retired man from Co Wicklow has avoided jail after admitting to possessing child sexual abuse material found on his mobile phone.
Clyde Wynne (70) pleaded guilty to possessing 21 images deemed to be child sexual abuse material, including chat conversations involving girls under 18.
A search warrant executed in September 2022 revealed the images on his iPhone, but nothing incriminating was found on his laptop.
Wynne was arrested in May 2024, admitted ownership of the phone and used the Kik app, which allows anonymous chatting with minors.
He received an 18 months’ fully suspended sentence, noting his low risk of reoffending and his age, alongside a recommendation to be on the sexual register.
