NORFOLK COMMUNITY LEADER TO BE SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCE
A former Norfolk community leader is to be sentenced later this month after he was convicted of sexual communication with a child.Clive Perrin, who has previously been involved in organising Sheringham Carnival, was found guilty by a jury of sexual communication with a child.
The 78-year-old will be back at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, November 24 for sentence.
He had initially been due to be sentenced in October but the case was not listed.
Jurors took less than two hours to find him guilty of the offence against the child - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - following a trial in August.
He messaged the teen from mid 2021, with concerning messages, including asking if she had ever had an orgasm and that he would buy her a sex toy.
The prosecutor described Perrin as demonstrating a "creeping, escalating pattern of behavior" towards the girl, asking her to call him from her bedroom and to delete some texts.
Perrin insisted that his messages had no sexual motivation or gratification.
He has been involved in numerous community events including art groups and walking football.
A sentence date has not yet been fixed, but Perrin was cleared of another charge of sexual activity with the same child.
