CLIVE JOHNSON FROM ROUNDSHAW SENTENCED FOR ABUSE IN KINGSTON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Roundshaw, Clive Johnson, aged 32, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of indecent assault. The heinous crimes took place in Kingston, where Johnson had ingrained himself into the life of a local family under the guise of a trusted figure.Johnson's criminal actions came to light following a detailed investigation and a court trial at Kingston Crown Court. He was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault, but was acquitted of two charges of common assault and one of gross indecency involving the young victim. The assaults, which occurred in November of the previous year, were described during the trial as particularly graphic, humiliating, and violent in nature.
The court heard that Johnson, a resident of Hadrian Close in Roundshaw, had systematically groomed the boy over a period of four years. His role as a football coach in a local youth team was exploited to gain the trust of the child and his family. Over time, Johnson became a familiar presence in their home, developing a close relationship with the family, who are legally protected from being named.
As Johnson's relationship with the family deepened, the parents entrusted him with the responsibility of looking after their son, including overnight stays. It was during one of these overnight visits that Johnson committed the assaults, which have left a lasting impact on the victim.
Following his conviction, Johnson will be required to register as a sex offender for the foreseeable future, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. The case has raised serious concerns about grooming and abuse within seemingly trusted community figures, prompting calls for increased vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable children in the Roundshaw area and beyond.
