NOTTINGHAM ELECTRICIAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND DAMAGE
A woman was assaulted by her partner, self-employed electrician Clint Bush, who had a four-year relationship with her.According to Nottingham Crown Court, Bush pinned her down with his full body weight during an attack on April 18 last year, which left her bruised.
During this incident, he also threw a candlestick at her.
She called one of her daughters to help her leave the house.
Bush had previously assaulted her in July at his parents' home, where he dragged her across the floor and down stairs, then outside to kick her before leaving in a shouting fit.
The court reviewed pictures of her injuries, including bruising and a carpet burn, with the woman stating, "The physical marks have gone, but the emotional and mental scars are still very much there." The victim's injuries and incidents led to Bush's arrest when he ripped an alarm off her wall and threw a rockery stone at her door in September.
He was subsequently convicted of assault causing bodily harm, using violence to secure entry to premises, and criminal damage.
Initially opting for a trial by jury, Bush later pleaded guilty to the second assault, admitting he pinned her down with his whole body weight, which caused her injuries, though he denied strangling her.
Judge Stuart Rafferty KC sentenced him to two and a half years in prison and issued a restraining order for ten years to protect the victim.
The judge noted Bush’s descent into alcohol and drug abuse and his remorseful attitude over his behavior.
