London Elder Abuser
A vulnerable elderly woman was left fighting for her life after being assaulted at a care home, and another woman was sexually assaulted by a burglar, in an incident on New Year’s Eve, a court heard. The offender, Clement Meade, 60, from Southall, London, conducted an "offending spree" at a west London address, according to prosecutors. He was seen by staff trying to remove a TV from a flat on the premises shortly before 9 pm. Prosecutors also allege that Meade sexually assaulted an elderly female resident and attempted to offer another woman £500 for sex. Furthermore, he is accused of grievous bodily harm on a bed-bound disabled woman shortly afterward, found unclothed with injuries to her arm, and rushed to hospital in a serious condition. The woman, in her late 60s, was reported to be in a life-threatening state with sepsis, with her livability in question. The defendant also reportedly threw a punch at a staff member in his 30s after being challenged. During the hearing, Meade appeared dazed in the dock wearing a grey tracksuit, with unkempt hair, and waved to his son who was in the public gallery. He only confirmed his name, date of birth, and address, and was remanded in custody with a court date set for January 30 at Isleworth Crown Court. The police also arrested another man, also 60, suspicion of rape at the same care home on the night of January 31, and inquiries are ongoing.Prosecutor Benjamin Eason described Meade’s actions as an "offending spree," highlighting that he entered a vulnerable disabled woman's flat with learning difficulties and limited mobility and left with items in a trolley, with staff discovering the woman undressed and injured. Meade faced multiple charges including GBH with intent, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, burglary, and assault by beating. The court denied bail, and Meade remains in custody.
