CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON BANNED DOVER SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT POSTING 2,000 MESSAGES ON DATING SITES

In March 2017, Christopher Robinson, a known sex offender with a troubling history, was found to have violated court orders by using Dover library computers to access dating websites and communicate with others through instant messaging. Despite being explicitly banned from using chat rooms and online messaging platforms, Robinson engaged in this activity repeatedly, raising serious concerns about his compliance with legal restrictions and the safety of others.

According to court records, Robinson visited Dover library on 93 separate occasions in June of the previous year, during which he accessed various dating websites and posted a total of 223 messages within chat rooms. His online activity did not cease there; in July, he returned to these sites 634 times and sent an additional 963 instant messages. The pattern of behavior continued into August, with Robinson logging onto 525 dating sites and posting 777 messages in chat rooms, all in direct defiance of the court order that prohibited him from engaging in such online communication.

Robinson, who resides on Folkestone Road in Dover, admitted to breaching the court-imposed restrictions. During police interviews, he explained that his motivation was rooted in loneliness and a desire to meet someone. His actions, however, were in clear violation of the legal restrictions placed upon him due to his past offenses.

Prosecutor James Ross outlined Robinson’s criminal history, noting that he had been barred from messaging in chat rooms since 2009 after it was discovered he was using these platforms to seek out underage individuals. In 2015, Robinson, then living on Guilford Road in Deal, received a six-month suspended sentence after breaching a previous court order by attempting to meet the mother of two teenage girls he had contacted online.

Most recently, Robinson was sentenced to six months in prison, immediate custody, after admitting to breaching his court orders once again. The breach was uncovered when Robinson traveled to Scotland to meet a woman he had met on the internet. As a registered sex offender, he was required to report his whereabouts to police in Scotland, where he inadvertently revealed that he had started a new relationship.

During questioning, Robinson told officers that he had moved to Glasgow in November to be with his new partner. However, officers found him evasive about his activities and eventually confirmed that he had visited the library to access dating sites. Further investigation revealed that the woman he was planning to meet was considered vulnerable, suffering from mental health and alcohol issues, and was unaware of Robinson’s criminal background.

Robinson’s movements did not end there; he later traveled south to meet with his probation officer. He was subsequently arrested after leaving the probation office. Judge Heather Norton, presiding over the case, expressed her concern about Robinson’s extensive criminal history, which included a police caution in 2009 for contacting children online and seeking indecent images. She emphasized the seriousness of his repeated breaches and the potential risk posed to the community.
