DOMESTIC ABUSER WITH 106 PREVIOUS OFFENCES LEFT GRIEVING PARTNER 'SCARED FOR HER LIFE'
A man with a prior record of violence was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after physically abusing his grieving partner.Christopher Parry, aged 35, was accused of subjecting her to acts and language that the judge characterized as "cruel" insults.
Parry, from Sarn Lane in Caergwrle, Wrexham, admitted to controlling behaviour.
The couple had begun their relationship in 2021.
During proceedings, prosecutor David Mainstone stated that Parry’s abusive actions left the victim "fearful for her safety." Defence barrister Gareth Bellis argued that the allegation of strangulation was not proven and requested that the sentence be suspended.
In addressing the court, Judge Timothy Petts noted that the woman had sustained a broken finger and had been kicked and slapped during their disputes.
Evidence was also presented that Parry damaged several phones, including one containing messages from his partner’s deceased mother.
The judge highlighted Parry’s extensive criminal history, which includes 106 previous convictions, many related to violence within relationships.
Despite Parry's expressions of remorse and his regret over his cocaine addiction, the judge determined that his overall risk remained too high.
Consequently, Parry was sentenced to prison and issued a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim.
